6 Steps To Link Up Google Alerts To Your Blog For Quality Traffic.

6 steps to link up Google Alerts to your blog for quality traffic will be the desire of every website owner and blogger that understands the meaning and value of quality traffic. Google as a search engine provider is known for creating and providing high quality gems that help users get the best out their searches. Google Alerts is another of such high quality useful gems from Google that users make use of to monitor the web for interesting content. When you subscribe to Google Alerts you will be alerted anytime Google indexes new relevant content. If you are not using this powerful gem already you may be missing out on the opportunity to be the first to know when new content is published on Google that is relevant to your business.

Benefits of Using Google Alerts

The first benefit of this Google gem is that it is FREE! For a tool that helps you do the things we will be discussing shortly if you are asked to pay for it, I'm sure it will not be a bad idea seeing that it will save you time and other valuable resources. But this gem is Free from Google; for me that is the first benefit.

Google Alerts Helps You Stay Up to Date with your interests: Once you have set up your interests in Google Alerts and set your alert frequency to As-it-happens, then you may find out with time that you are always the first to know when a new content around your interest is published. These could be blog posts, articles, comments, website publications, research papers published etc. For example I have interest in Network Marketing, WordPress, Google+ etc.

A great tool for good Public Relations - With Google Alerts you could set up your name or the name of your business as part of your alerts. This is a very good and helpful thing to do because you will receive alert on any mention of your name or the brand you have set alert on. It is very great for your public relations. If the mention is good for your brand you simply show appreciation by reaching out to whoever mentioned your brand and thank them so they know you are human. And what if the mention is for a negative reason? When you are the first to know you will be afforded the opportunity to quickly reach out to correct any negative notion created by such and then defend your brand in a very intelligent and professional manner that can turn the negativity to something positive.

A great source for Great Content - Another great benefit of Google Alerts is that the alerts could serve as a source for materials, ideas, inspiration or information for you to create your own content. You can also share these contents with your audience and give back credit to the sources you got them from.

Website/Blog Tracking - with the help of Google Alerts you could track any mention about your website or blog either for good and you show appreciation or negatively and you make a move to fix whatever the problem is. If you want to create alert for your website or blog simply type the name of the domain with the extension but without the "www". For example, you could used yourname.com to create Google Alerts for your personal branded website/blog.

Leads Generation - You can actually use Google Alerts to generate leads for your business, particularly if your business depends on breaking news to generate leads (check Authoritypublishing.com)

Step by Step Guide to Setting Up Google Alert for linking to your blog

There are several other benefits Google Alerts bring to your business, now that you know the benefits, how do you now link up Google Alerts to your blog for high quality traffic? The following steps will be of help:

Step One: Ensure you already have a Google account: just open a Gmail account at www.gmail.com and you are good to go.

Step Two: Log into your Gmail account and then open a new tab on your browser. Type www.google.com/alerts on your browser and it will take you to your Google Alerts account.

Step Three: Next, start creating the keywords, titles, phrases, blog/website address, the brand names that you want to receive alerts on and literally anything you want. Please note that before you click on the Create button, you may want to check out the Options drop down button to select your options which will include the Frequency or How Often you want to receive the alerts (at most once daily, at most once a week or as-it-happens), sources (you can leave it at automatic if you do not mind the source of the alert, but if that matters to you then click on the drop down button beside Sources and choose whether news, blog, books, etc), Region, Language, How many and where you want the alerts delivered (email address).

Step Four: Check your emails regularly for your alerts. Read them and see what useful information you find based on the benefits listed above already.

Step Five: Since your goal is to attract traffic to your blog or your website using Google Alerts, ensure you create an Alert with your website or blog domain name. Type in your domain name without the "www" on the space for creating alerts. Simply type in yourname.com. The only option I recommend you change in the Options setting is the How Often option which you should change to As-it Happens. Leave others at default.

Step Six: Enter keywords you likely will be using often on your website or blog posts. This is very important since this is going to also help your Google ranking for relevant content and keywords. Industry or niche keywords in my opinion will be of tremendous help to your blog if it is an industry or niche blog/website.

You can see how simple and easy it is to set up Google Alert. Just do things right and you will see how tremendously helpful this great Free Google tool can be in bringing high quality traffic to your site or blog.
